Birds Fall From Sky in Arkansas

It seems not all happy with last New Year celebrations. Almost 5,000 birds in Arkansas looks mysteriously fell from the sky on Friday, December 31, 2010.

Officials suspect the stress as a cause of that tragedy. Although there is another explanation that can describe why birds in Arkansas fell mysteriously such as extreme weather like high winds or lightning strikes, but they doubt with that reason.

"Our opinion is more skewed to the stress," said a spokesman for the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission Keith Stephens. He said the fireworks can make a lot of birds most of the "Blackbird" flew into the house or even a heart attack. The assessment is expected to issued Monday or the weekend.


The commission also is trying to ascertain what the cause of death of up to 100,000 fish in 20 miles along the Arkansas River near a dam in Ozark, 125 miles west of Beebe. The fish was discovered on 30 December.

Stephens said the commission will issue the result of research within a month. The disease is probably the cause, because all fish are from one species - bottom-feeding drum, said Stephen.

Stephens said that all the events that seem unrelated. River and air in the dead birds to be tested for toxicity, said Stephens. Beebe is a small town with 4500 residents and located in 30 miles northeast of the capital of the state.
